What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Trouble With Maggie Cole is that it's logical leaps and tonal incongruities make for a dizzying viewing experience - albeit one with fun performances that's maybe a little confusing, but never dull.

The Trouble With Maggie Cole: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Debi Enker The Age (Australia) Dawn French is in her element as Maggie, a busybody, compulsive meddler and event organiser whose ego and loose tongue land her in trouble. Jan 20, 2022 Full Review The Trouble With Maggie Cole: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) John Doyle Globe and Mail What makes it strange is the tone -- it's a comedy about embarrassment that stops shy of being genuinely excoriating about standard stories of cozy English villages. Oct 19, 2020 Full Review The Trouble With Maggie Cole: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Dorothy Rabinowitz Wall Street Journal A thriller of sorts -- there are plenty of dark forces here -- with a strong sitcom sensibility, The Trouble With Maggie Cole is a rollicking drama that shines with life. Oct 16, 2020 Full Review The Trouble With Maggie Cole: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Malcolm Hopwood Stuff.co.nz Dawn French is the strength and weakness of the series. She's charming, ditzy and irritating in equal measure. Sep 25, 2020 Full Review The Trouble With Maggie Cole: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Euan Ferguson Observer (UK) Its heart might be in the right place but its brain's in a jar. Mar 16, 2020 Full Review The Trouble With Maggie Cole: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) For the purposes of the revenge story to come she was meant to be annoying, but talk about going above and beyond. Audience Member The pieces that intertwined were interesting in concept but it is a terrible storyline. I love Dawn French but in this she was downright annoying. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review ginger b Starts with a good premise, but doesn't really know where to go from there. Mildly interesting characters and some pretty village scenery make it watchable, but I wouldn't go out of my way. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I stumbled upon this show by accident and figured I would give it a try. I was hooked after just 5 minutes. The character's are great, especially Dawn French and the storyline is so brilliantly written and believable. I have known many people like Maggie cole.....Give it a try, you will not be disappointed! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
